Björn Lundell as part of Spatiality – a group exhibition exploring the quality or character of being spatial or related to space.

“Through drawing I approach place, architecture, and above all, people. I am enveloped by a room of bodies, gazes, and thoughts in constant transformation. Architecture, the site as a stage for social interaction. The vivid interplay. In drawing, I become part of the world around me.”

Björn Lundell’s work departs from a year-long site study of Admiralbrücke in Kreuzkölln, Berlin. Lundell conducts observational fieldwork and spatial analysis using drawing as a tool. Drawing, in this context, serves not only as a method of observation but also participation. Admiralbrücke, studied as both physical structure and social stage, becomes a lens through which urban rhythm, atmosphere, and social agency become visible. The project investigates how public life and built space interact to effect resonance and relationship between people and place.

Berlin based Björn Lundell is active as an artist, architect, and educator. He holds two master’s degrees, in Architecture (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, 2011) and Fine Arts (Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm, 2002) and has taught extensively in both fields, serving as head teacher at Arkitekturskolan STHLM (2021–2024) and more recently teaching in Berlin. Lundell has been exhibited internationally, with recent exhibitions including Färgfabriken, Studio 44, and The Sam & Adele Golden Gallery in New York. In 2025, he presented the project In Search for Resonance in Architecture at the CIB World Building Congress, where he was awarded best paper. As part of his study, Alkov are proud to present the drawings Observations in Kreuzkölln.
